On the way to La Ferme d’André!
" What a beautiful place! It feels like vacation already! "
" During summer time, upon arrival, this is where our counsellors greet us to complete our registration. They are always smiling and happy to meet us! "
The parking area
" This is where our parents park their car when we arrive at the camp on Sunday afternoon. "
" This gorgeous stone house was built in 1860 by a family of Irish settlers. Over the years, it has been modified to lodge children like me! It's definitely a charming and cozy house that makes us feel at home as soon as we step inside. "
André’s living quarters
" Here is André’s private quarters. Wow! He must feel so good and relaxed in this beautiful oasis with his two cats and his dog Café! "
" I think this corner is really pretty. Just perfect for André and his dog Café! "
The locker room
" This is where I store my clothes. Everything should be placed neatly or else I would be wasting my time searching. And the showers, how refreshing after a long day at the farm! "
The children’s dormitories (at the top of the house)
" In the attic of the house, there are four bedrooms. My friend Ludovic and I sleep in the same bedroom! And the highest top bunk is inches from de ceiling! Cool! By the way, only boys sleep in our bedroom. That's the rule! Girls rooms and boys rooms exclusively! "
The children’s dormitories (at the bottom of the house)
" This is where I sleep, with my best friend. It’s super comfortable. And it’s just for us girls! "
" Yummy! The meals prepared in this kitchen by the chef are amazingly delicious! "
" This is a beautiful solarium. From in there you can see the animal yard. It's bright yet calming room! "
The dining room
" This is where we eat! And when we’re done eating, we sing with the camp counsellors as loud as we can! Way too cool! "
The campfire area
" In the evening, we gather around the campfire and have a small snack. And of course, we sing the farm’s songs! "
" These bunnies are so cute! We can feed them clover. They love it! And I love to sit next to them and pat them. They’re so soft. But careful! We shouldn't pick them up because they're very delicate. "
" This is where the gardener grows the farm’s vegetables and fruits. I like to come here and help to weed. Then, I take the weeds to the goats and sheep. Oh, they get so excited when they see me come! In addition, I learned to recognize and name many vegetables that I eat at home."
Céline and Nico’s little house
" This is a private house. This is where Céline and Nicolas live with their family. Céline is a veterinary and Nicolas is a farmer, an agronomist and an arboriculturist. They help out a lot at the farm!"
The picnic area
" In this area, the visitors can enjoy a picnic at all times. We, the campers, eat our snacks here, and sometimes our meals. The other day, I ate my snack right here, on the back of my horse. I’ll remember that day for the rest of my life. "
The Rabastan (aboriginal teepee)
" In the teepee, we can sing, read or just warm up by the fire. I love it! "
The swimming pool
" It’s so hot! Quick! Let’s go for a dive in the pool. Of course, it’s safe because there’s always a lifeguard on duty. "
The counsellor’s corner and dormitory
" No trespassing! This is the camp counsellors’ area. This is where they keep their personal things and where they sleep when they’re not on duty. "
The arts workshop
" In here, we can let our creativity run wild: we can make collages with lamb's wool, build piñatas, make bracelets, sketch, draw, put on make-up... There’s a ton of craft and arts supplies to ignite our imagination. Yesterday, I wrote a letter to my parents to let them know how much fun I was having. Then, I decorated the letter with flowers that I have picked in the field. "
The theatre barn
" The other day, with the help of the wardrobe master, I dressed up in a funny costume. And along with my friends, we invented a play. Luckily, the arts camp counsellor was there to help us. It is also in this barn that we set up indoor activities on rainy days. "
The Tarzan barn
" In the Tarzan Barn, we act just like Tarzan by following trails, climbing, jumping and of course swinging at the end of a rope, under the watchful eyes of a camp counsellor. "
The hay Barn
" In this barn, we stock for winter use the hay needed for the horses. Yesterday, I helped the counsellors do just that. And today, well, my muscles are stronger! "
" In the summer time, most animals sleep outdoors, in the fields, but in winter, as the weather gets colder, each group of animal has their own pen to keep them warm: the pigs, the goats, the sheep, the dogs, the cats, the lamas, the alpaca, the donkey and the rabbits. "
The animal shelter
" In the shelter, the animals can stay away from the sun or keep dry from the rain. I like to go in there and take pictures of the pig who likes to sleep most of the time. "
" Yummy! Every morning, I help the animal counsellor to feed the animals. In the henhouse, I collect an egg, write my name on it, and bring it to the kitchen where the cook will cook it for my breakfast. So cool! "
The animal yard
" Wow! For the first time in my life, I get to go inside an animal yard. It’s much bigger than a pen. It’s like a castle for animals! I get to pat the animals and even take them for a stroll with a leash either inside or outsine the enclosure. Great! "
" This morning, I made a small boat in the arts workshop and I brought it over to the pond. I gently placed it on the water and watched it float amongst the ducks and geese. "
The saddle room
" In this room, we store the saddles, the bridles, the brushes and all equine gear. Very practical with 24 horses! "
" This is where we first learn how to ride a horse. And as we get better, we get to go on tours in the fields either by walking, trotting or galloping. I love horseback riding so much that I could spend hours on my horse. I even got a vaulting lesson the other day. I never thought that one day I would be standing on a horse. "
The horse yard
" This morning, along with the horseriding instructor and other campers, I fetched all 24 horses of the farm. This is where we gathered them, so that it was easier for us to catch them and put the bridle on them. "
" This is a beautiful jumping course with obstacles adjusted with respect to the jumper’s technical level. "
Into the fields and the woods
" Today, we’re going hiking in the fields and the woods with our counsellor to pick blackberries. Yummy! Can’t wait to taste them! "
" André’s horse sleeps in here. He’s a very beautiful horse! "
